Comprised of 175 acres of forest, wetlands, and meadows in Franklin Township, the park is the site of a 2000-year-old Hopewell Indian mound that overlooks Lake Pippen. In addition, Towners Woods boasts what many regard as one of the best cross-country skiing trails in Northeast Ohio and is adjacent to the Portage Hike and Bike Trail.

Towners Woods is a primarily forested preserve. With more than 5 miles of foot trails and benches throughout the park, there are opportunities for easy strolls, strenuous hiking, and renowned cross-country skiing through beautiful natural scenery and varied habitats. A portion of the trail system overlooks Lake Pippen. Visitors can also see the historic Brady Interlocking Railroad Tower as well at a Hopewell Indian Mound site. Two small picnic shelters and restrooms provide visitors the opportunity for a full day of exploration. The park also provides fun sledding opportunities. Towners Woods also includes access to the 7+ miles of ADA-accessible Portage Hike and Bike Trail. Western Reserve Land Conservancy helped add over 63 acres of unique habitat to the park, including bog habitat that is not accessible by trail but is an important piece of the biological diversity in the park.
