About this Location

Lake Barber is located off Edwards Road in Newtown. Lake Barber offers beautiful scenery for fishing, walking, and enjoying what nature has to offer. This 52-acre spring-fed lake is a result of the reclamation of a limestone surface mine excavated in the 1980s, acquired by the Village of Newtown in 2012. The water quality of the lake is excellent, as evidenced by the wide variety of fish and wildlife in the area.  The 1.5-mile path is available for walking, running, and biking on a trail that takes you through woody shaded areas and segments with spectacular views of our community.

Birders may access the lake from the end of Edwards Road.

The Newtown Gravel Pits are several ponds along Roundbottom Road that are no longer active for gravel production. The only pond with public access is the westernmost pond, Lake Barber, which is managed as a park by the Village of Newtown and is a separate eBird hotspot.
