This hotspot covers the second segment of the hike from Cachuma Saddle to San Rafael Mountain's pine forest. The first segment, from the saddle to McKinley Mountain, is covered by the hotspot Forest Route 8N08 from Cachuma Saddle to McKinley Spring Camp.

This trail starts at the Mission Pine Trail trailhead at (34.7038, -119.8359). It is in the San Rafael Wilderness, so no vehicles or bikes are allowed. It takes you through mostly chaparral and sparse oak woodlands.
