Forest Route 8N08 from Cachuma Saddle to McKinley Spring Camp

Forest Route 8N08 from Cachuma Saddle to McKinley Spring Camp

About this Location

This road starts at Cachuma Saddle at (34.7269, -119.9196) and ends at the trailhead to Mission Pine Trail at (34.7037, -119.8361), which is just below McKinley Mountain. This stretch is nearly 10 miles and takes you through varied habitats, primarily chaparral and oak woodlands. Once you reach Mission Pine Trail, use the Mission Pine Trail: McKinley Mtn to San Rafael Mtn Summit hotspot. This is the way to get to San Rafael Mountain's pine forest, which is covered by the Mission Pine Trail: San Rafael Mtn To Mission Pine Spring Camp hotspot.

There is a gate just after Cachuma Saddle so the only way to traverse this stretch of road is by bike or on foot. The road is rocky and steep in parts, so it's strenuous on foot, and biking would require good shape and a good mountain bike, or an e-mountain bike.
