About this Location

Myles Standish State Forest covers an area of 26,000 acres and is the largest publicly owned recreation area in southeastern Massachusetts. The forest offers a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. The forest is also home to diverse wildlife, including deer, coyotes, turkeys, and rare species of moths and butterflies. The forest was named after Myles Standish, a military leader of the Plymouth Colony who helped establish the first settlements in the area.
