Important breeding species are Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Cerulean Warbler, Kentucky Warbler, Ovenbird, American Redstart, Hooded Warbler, Yellow-throated Vireo, Acadian Flycatcher, Eastern Meadowlark, Sedge Wren, Bobolink, Henslow’s Sparrow, Veery, Pileated Woodpecker (possibly the only site in Hardin County), and a breeding colony of Great Blue Herons.
