About this Location

Buckmaster Pond is a 36-acre kettle pond. The pond is named after John Buckmaster, an early settler who died in 1752. The pond appears in historical records as early as 1827 when it was used for baptisms.

Two properties along the south shore are used for recreation:

  • The Pitts/Rynsaardt Park - Purchased by the Town of Westwood in 1975, it is 8 acres and has 0.2 miles of public trails.
  • Buckmaster Maple Norwood Conservation Property is owned by the Town of Westwood. At 2.5 acres, this property is open to the public and has 0.1 miles of public trails.
