Lots of large trees make this a magnet hotspot for resident birds as well as spring and fall migrants. 

Plains, Texas, is the county seat of Yoakum County. It was founded in 1907 by W.J. Luna. The City of Plains was incorporated in 1953.

Plains is host to the yearly Old Settlers Reunion and Rodeo the first Saturday in August, as well as the Yoakum County Watermelon Roundup, which is held the Saturday before Labor Day. 

Stanford Park is run by Yoakum County and includes a swimming pool.

There is a wheelchair accessible trail in the park.
