A "playa" is a shallow depression that occasionally become a shallow lake with rainfall. Playas are particularly good spots in the Texas Panhandle for wintering waterfowl.
As of November, 2023, Ellis Rd heading west from State Highway 168 going the east is impassable unless in a very high clearance, 4 wheel drive vehicle
