Whitin Pond is a natural lake that covers an area of 71 acres and has a maximum depth of 12 feet. The pond is fed by the West River and drains into the Blackstone River. 

Whitin Pond is surrounded by city streets, homes, and a church. There are views of the pond from the sidewalk on Linwood Street and the bridge on North Main Street (MA-122).
