Another roadside stop along upper Carmel Valley Road, this one very near to the entrance of Hastings Natural History Reservation, a research facility for U.C. Berkeley (access restricted). At this point, Martin Road goes northeast past the Hastings entrance, following Robertson Creek with its riparian habitat. Carmel Valley Road continues east along Finch Creek, and its thick riprarian. Access is limited to dirt pull-offs along Carmel Valley Road.

Resident birds of oak woodlands, plus migrants in riparian habitat. Wild Turkey common in this area.
