Official WebsiteImmediately after entering the second gate, the city has its brush reclamation area. This might a good place to look for sparrows and other birds that like to hide in brush piles.
Drive the entrance road slowly (there's not much traffic in the winter) and watch for mixed flocks along the roadway and fence line.
There are lots of trails at this park for exploring. There are also bird blinds along several of those trails and at an overlook on the west end of the larger, upper lake.

Joshua Springs Park and Preserve has nearly 400 acres of land some of which is designated as park and some as preserve.
The park, located between Boerne and Comfort, has 8 miles of multi-use trails.
The lake is stocked for catch-and-release fishing. There are bird and wildlife observation blinds, restrooms, a playground, covered and uncovered picnic areas, and walking trails.
There is an enclosed dog park with an agility course and a 9-hole disc golf course.

Most of the "roads" shown on the park map are now just paved walking trails. The road deadends at the parking area near the restroom.

Some of the trails at this location are hard-packed granite gravel and are listed as ADA-accessible on the park map.
