This is a hidden gem of a hotspot. Give it a little time and it will give you more and more birds.
First, scan the water for waterfowl. But, scan again additional times because birds seem to keep showing up.
Check out the downstream area--and again, if you are patient, especially in the morning, more birds might pop back up.
The thick understory vegetation across the street from the single-car parking area looks like it should hold ground-feeding birds, especially the winter sparrow.
Of course, check out the tops of the telephone poles for raptors.
And, before you leave, scan everything and listen one more time. You might be surprised.
