This set of water treatment ponds, located just north of the Salinas River and south of the small City of Gonzales, is now a restricted access area. Birders had permission during the breeding bird atlas project (1988-1992) to survey the ponds, but they are gated and require permission.  These ponds have not been surveyed in some time. We don't know how drought or non-drought years aftect thie operation of these ponds.

Common Gallinule bred here during the Breeding Bird Atlas period (1988-1992), and may potentially still do so.
