Especially during the winter months you will get flocks of ducks resting and feeding on Richards Lake. The avenue of oak trees between the Greenbelt and the street are a great place to watch for Red Headed Woodpeckers.
The Greenbelt is the property of the City of Carrollton and the parking areas and gravel trail are owned by Southwire. Birders are welcome on the trails and in the parking areas but you should not walk around the lakes to the houses or the factory property.
The Greenbelt runs beside part of Richards Lake and is wheelchair accessible. There is another trail that leaves the parking area and loops down beside the lake that is not wheelchair accessible; it is very bumpy and has tiny gravel.
