The Mill River Recreation Area features a swimming pool, a playground, a picnic area, a basketball court, a tennis court, a volleyball court, and a baseball field. The park has access to the Mill River, where visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, and kayaking. The Mill River Recreation Area is open from dawn to dusk, year-round. 

The Mill River Recreation area in North Amherst is part of a greenbelt that extends southwest to Hadley and the Connecticut River. It is open to the public with no fee to access.
