This area provides shrubby habitat for overwintering sparrows.

Stamm Field is one of seven hotspots that have been recognized on Longview Lake Park, managed by Jackson County Parks and Recreation. An overview of the lake and a map of the park can be found in the Longview Lake hotspot description. The area contains two grass airstrips for radio-controlled model airplane club usage. The area is reached by a gravel entrance road off of SW Sampson Road in Lee's Summit, 0.9 miles south of SW Scherer Parkway.
