This road, particularly from OH-168 going east, has been the winter hotspot for raptors in Geauga County, surpassing Hayes Road the last two years. During winter 2019-2020 many winter raptors were observed with regularity including Rough-legged, Red-tailed, and Red-shouldered Hawks; Northern Harrier; breeding pair of American Kestrels; occasional flyover of Bald Eagle and Short-eared Owls at dusk. Less common but making an occasional appearance are Sharp-shinned and Cooper’s Hawks.
Patch Road traverses privately owned properties. Please view birds from the roadside only.
It is one of the least traveled roads by car or buggy, making it one of the safest for birders.
