Sylvan Rodriguez park is one of the City of Houston's designated Nature Preserves and a significant prairie restoration project. Of the 113-acre park, over 70 acres are now natural areas. Using a combination of manual/mechanical removing, mowing, and prescribed fire, what was once a dense forest of invasive tallow tree has become a diverse native prairie and riparian corridor.
Trails are wide and paved. Benches are available around the prairie circle and along the boardwalk. Boardwalk has side bumpers and wide pull outs with benches. Restrooms are in poor condition.
