In 2000, William and Barbara Lang Hacker left a major bequest to Harwich Conservation Trust (HTC), which has since leveraged the protection of more than 200 acres. To honor their memory, HCT reserved 8.7 acres of quiet woodland between Katie’s Pond and the Cape Cod Rail Trail, a regional bike path ranging 22 miles between Dennis and Wellfleet. HCT also preserved this land to protect a kettle pond, freshwater wetland, wildlife habitat, walking trails, and a bike trail greenway. Since 2000, HCT and the Town have partnered to preserve nearly 70 acres known as the Island Pond Conservation Lands. Of that total, HCT raised $172,000 toward the purchase of 45 acres over which it holds permanent conservation restrictions.

West Trailhead Parking: From the intersection of MA-124 and Queen Anne Road, drive 0.8 miles west to the parking area on the south side of Queen Anne Road.
East Trailhead Parking: Start from the Town Hall parking area and walk the bike trail west.
Bicycle Trailhead: Bike racks are available at granite mile marker #4 on the Cape Cod Rail Trail.
