Woodlawn Cemetery was established in 1855 and covers 47 acres of land. The cemetery is the final resting place of many notable people, such as Horatio Hollis Hunnewell, a horticulturist and philanthropist; Katharine Lee Bates, the author of "America the Beautiful"; and Roger Nash Baldwin, a founder of the American Civil Liberties Union. The cemetery also features a variety of monuments, sculptures, and landscaping that reflect the history and culture of Wellesley and its residents.
