Tips for Birding

Scan fields from safe parking locations along FM 159. The farm area is very active with workers, so be careful not to disrupt work or block traffic.

Birds of Interest

The fields around this hotspot are good for Lapland longspurs in the winter, with the occasional Thick-billed mixing in, and Sandhill Cranes are common flyovers during migration. Say's Phoebe and Vermilion Flycatcher can be found occasionally on powerlines, fenceposts, and snags.

About this Location

This hotspot is in reference to all fields near the Allen Farm. Farm to Market Road 159 bisects the fields and provides a few areas along the shoulder to pull off and scan. This highway is fairly busy, usually from people working at the farm, so be cautious about driving too slow or pulling off the road. Remember that all fields are private, so do not stray from the public roads!
