If you arrive early for a group birding event, pull to the side of this driveway to allow the person with the key to proceed to the gate.
Watch for emails to the Birdky LISTSERV; people who have access will send notices about when they are planning to be there to host visitors.
Shorebirds, waterfowl. There have also been interesting songbirds, including Bell's Vireo and Dickcissel.
Melco is a large impoundment that is dependent upon rainwater for shorebird and waterfowl habitat. New construction might limit that further, as drainage improvements may empty the basin before shorebirds can find it.
There is a two-track along the top of the rectangular impoundment that can be used to walk (do not drive on this road).
