Birds of Interest

Spring visits have been few, with Northern Harrier, Loggerhead Shrike, White crowned, Harris's, and Savannah Sparrows found. In summer, Henslow's Sparrows compete with Grasshopper and Field Sparrow , the dominant Dickcissel, and Eastern Meadowlark. LeConte's Sparrow has been seen in autumn. The limited number of winter reports have included Loggerhead Shrike, Fox, Savannah, and Song Sparrow.

About this Location

From Sedalia, go 10 miles south on US 6 5, then 0.75 miles west ( on MO 52, then south ( 0.5 miles on Hoffman Road , past the lot for Drover s Prairie CA . The only access to the area is a small parking area on the east side of Hoffman Road at the northwest corner of the property. 

The area has a gently rolling topography with a mix of native prairie remnant, prairie reconstruction and cool season grass. Management plans are to provide habitat for all grassland species.
