About this Location

Through the generosity of a religious order long committed to Holyoke, everyone can now experience a unique floodplain forest and a riverside working farm with strong ties to urban residents.

A fertile, 25-acre oasis generously donated by the Sisters of Providence, Land of Providence provides farmland to Trustees partner Nuestras Raices (“Our Roots”), a local nonprofit organization that promotes urban agriculture and cultural pride among immigrant populations. Dozens of local residents, from master farmers to youth groups, farm the land and raise livestock, not only feeding their families but providing fresh, local food to the community as well.

Picnic alongside the Connecticut River, learn about community farming and explore the crucial relationships that bind people and place, along with some memorable views.

Land of Providence is open from April 1 through November 30, daily, from sunrise to sunset.
