Waterbury Reservoir covers 839 acres and has a maximum depth of 100 feet. The reservoir was created in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps as a flood control project to protect the towns and villages along the Winooski River Valley. The reservoir is surrounded by state forest lands and two state parks, offering various recreational opportunities such as swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and picnicking.
