Lakota Lake was originally called Luce's Pond and was part of a private fishing club called the Lakota Club, which was founded in 1891. The club expanded the lake from 6 acres to 15 acres and acquired more than 1,000 acres of land at its peak. Today, the club still owns more than 800 acres of land around the lake. Lakota Lake is a popular destination for vacation rentals, offering scenic views, tranquility, and outdoor activities. The lake is surrounded by forests, mountains, and fields.
Lakota Lake (20 acres) is a site for the Vermont LoonWatch annual survey. Birders are encouraged to volunteer as often and whenever they are able. See Join LoonWatch for details.
