Lake Pinneo was created in 1974 by the Quechee Lakes Landowners Association (QLLA). The lake covers 50 acres and offers recreational opportunities for QLLA members, such as swimming, boating, fishing, and beach activities. Lake Pinneo was originally open to the public for a modest fee, but since 2015, QLLA has restricted access to its members only, citing security and maintenance reasons. The decision has caused some controversy among Hartford residents, especially after the closure of the town's public pool in 2018.
Lake Pinneo (50 acres) is a site for the Vermont LoonWatch annual survey. Birders are encouraged to volunteer as often and whenever they are able. See Join LoonWatch for details.
