Equinox Pond is within the Equinox Preservation Trust.

Equinox Pond (15 acres) is a site for the Vermont LoonWatch annual survey. Birders are encouraged to volunteer as often and whenever they are able. See Join LoonWatch for details.

Positioned on the eastern side of Mt. Equinox, the Equinox Preserve and Pond are part of 914 acres of protected land. Open to the public year-round, the area includes 11 miles of maintained trails ranging from an easy pond loop to a steeper climb up to the summit.

Trails are clearly marked. Take the easy-going Flatlanders Pass to the Pond Loop. Try Robin’s Lookout off the Red Gate Trail for a sweet view of the Battenkill Valley. Or, if you’re up for a long haul, hike the Blue Summit Trail all the way to the top.
