About this Location

Meshanticut Park is an approximately 20 acre park located in Cranston, Rhode Island. Most of the park's acreage consists of a small pond that is bordered by a paved walking trail. There are several features of this park that make it appealing for birding. The pond is surrounded by dense shrubs, wetlands, and a small marshy patch with cattails. The parks eastern side has a small buffer of mature trees.

This park is accessible by car, public transit, or bicycle. If accessing by car, note that nearby street parking is limited. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (also known as RIPTA) has a bus route with a bus stop within less than a quarter of a mile of the park (see RIPTA website for more information). The Washington Secondary Bike Trail provides a designated car free bike route most of the way to the park. There is no nexus from the bike path to Dean Street (which leads directly to Meshanticut State Park), but Sherman Avenue (from the south) and Uxbridge Street (from the north) will get you to the park through a short detour on the residential portion of Cranston Street where speed limits are posted at 25 mph.
