Historically, Cerulean Warblers have breed here. While becomming increasingly difficult to spot in Rhode Island, occasionally Ruffed Grouse can also be found here.
Ponaganset Road is surrounded by mature forests that are mostly under conservation restriction for municipal drinking water supply. The lower volumes of traffic and dense thickets along the roadside make Ponaganset Road a decent place to go birding in Northwestern Rhode Island.
