This marsh sits about 20-30 feet below the street level, where you can easily set up a scope from both W. 40th Lane and Water Street for different angles. When the water levels are good, there is plenty of open water for many dabbling ducks and a few divers like Redhead and Ring-necked Duck. Shorebirds are good here during migration.
Ducks, shorebirds, waders, march specialties. swallows, Yellow-headed Blackbirds.
Fort Stockton WTP or "Water Treatment Plant" is an accepted name for this eBird Hotspot, But it is NOT a water treatment plant. It is actually a rainwater runoff catchment basin. This hole in the ground usually has water, but levels vary. An oasis for ducks and marsh birds in the middle of the desert, by far the best place in the county to easily see such habitat.
