Rock Island Cove is known for its rocky shoreline, sandy beach, and clear water. The cove is a popular destination for fishing, kayaking, and swimming. 

Rock Island, on the peninsula of Houghs Neck, overlooks Rock Island Cove. The tip of the neighborhood, known as Rock Island Head or Rock Island Hill is a cape that sits Southwest of Racoon Island.
