Heart of the Hills Fisheries Science Center is now a research center that is open to birders on most Wednesdays from 8:00 until 4:00. Group tours can be arranged in advance on other days.

When arriving, check in at the kiosk outside the main office building.  The restrooms are located inside the main office building past a staff desk at the front. There is no access to any other buildings, but visitors are free to walk the entire site. 

The site is closed on holiday weeks (Thanksgiving etc) and may close other Wednesdays, but you can call the Monday or Tuesday to check that the gates will be open that week.

The facility is short staffed at this time (March, 2024) so may have to close the gates from time to time on Wednesday. be safe—don’t waste a trip. CALL AHEAD!!
