Official WebsiteThe Atwood Reservoir is a large body of water, a spotting scope can be helpful for viewing waterfowl. The direction that the sun hits this reservoir in relation to the vantage points can make it difficult to see waterfowl from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, to maximize your ability to see waterfowl here it is best to visit at first light, on overcast days, or later in the afternoon.
The Atwood Reservoir Wildlife Management Area is a public wildlife reserve owned and managed by the Massachusetts Division of Fish & Wildlife. The property is approximately 511 acres and contains a variety of habitats from wooded wetlands, pitch pine forest, a large reservoir, and anthropogenic cranberry bogs on nearby adjacent properties. The Massachusetts Department of Fish & Wildlife has designated two parking areas on Meadow Street for this wildlife management area which can be found on their map. The best way to access Atwood Reservoir is from the eastern parking area off of Meadow Street in Carver, Massachusetts. The western parking area has space for approximately two cars, please make sure to park in the lot that is posted as being fish & wildlife property and avoid parking on the cranberry bog's property.
