Tips for Birding

This is one of the best places in the area for spring passerine migration. In summer it is relatively quiet.

There are good areas for checking for warblers. In spring the areas to the left and right of the main gate and around the Clay monument are usually active during the morning with birds moving to the ponds later in the day. There is a stream that runs off the ponds where warblers come to bath and one can see quite a few species at that location without moving.

In fall one tends to have to walk around quite a bit to find flocks of migrants.

Birds of Interest

Warblers, Flycatchers, Orioles and Thrushes are plentiful during migration. Winter can bring in finches with the variety of fruiting trees present.
