Menlo Park is dedicated to Edward Moreno. Edward Moreno, “Tats,” was born in Rosemont, Arizona. After the Great Depression, he worked at the C.C. Camp which built the roads to Mt. Lemmon and Madera Canyon. In January of 1942, he joined the Army where he became a parachutist of the 17th Airborne Division. Wounded in a combat jump over the Rhine River, he was decorated with a Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal. After the war, Tats’ passion for the outdoors and wilderness brought him to work for the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department. When he retired in 1982, after 34 years of service to the City, the Tucson Mayor and Council dedicated Menlo Park to “Edward Moreno.”
