The town of Carter Lake, Iowa is an anomaly because it is surrounded by the city of Omaha, Nebraska and near Omaha's Eppley airport. An old oxbow of the Missouri River was used in the Iowa-Nebraska Boundary Compromise. Most of the water area is in Nebraska, but a small part of it is in the town of Carter Lake, Iowa.
