Walk anywhere along the public streets of this neighborhood area and you will find a variety of local species.
A few of the many birds that frequent this neighborhood are: Red-shouldered Hawk, Anna’s Hummingbird, Acorn, Hairy, and Nuttall’s Woodpecker, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Oak Titmouse, House Finch, California and Spotted Towhee. Other possibilities include (but are not limited to) Allen’s Hummingbird, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Cedar Waxwing, Purple Finch, Orange-crowned Warbler, and Townsend’s Warbler.
Via Paraiso Park is a neighborhood park used for picnics, tennis, baseball and also has playground equipment. It is also a good location to walk the path (paved and dirt) around the perimeter. Pines and oaks host many of our local bird species. There are two small parking lots or street parking. Public restrooms are at the park. This hotspot includes the many neighborhood streets within the Monterey Vista neighborhood association. Note: For nearby Quarry Park, please use the separate hotspot when walking into the canyon.
