Southeast Land Trust Epping, New Hampshire 03042
Official WebsiteBurley Farms includes 238 acres of fields, forests, and wetlands, running along both sides of North River Road to unmaintained Range Road to the north and Dimond Hill Road to the east. Hayfields and shrubland abut an expansive 40-acre beaver pond, which hosts myriad wildlife, including a great blue heron rookery. The remaining land is a mix of forests and links to other land conserved by Southeast Land Trust along the Wild and Scenic Lamprey River.
Burley Farms appears now much as it would have over two hundred years ago: a homestead with its circa 1790 John Prescott Chase farmhouse and outbuildings. This land was once an apple orchard and before that a dairy that sold and shipped milk to H.P. Hood via the B&M Railroad that ran on what is now NH-125.
