Goat Peak Tower, which stands at 1202 feet above sea level, offers panoramic views of the Connecticut River Valley and the surrounding mountains. Goat's Peak Tower can be reached by a moderate 2.4-mile out-and-back hike along the T Bagg Trail and the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail, or by a shorter 1.4-mile loop trail via the Beau Bridge Trail. The tower is also a prime spot for observing the fall hawk migration when thousands of raptors soar along the ridge in September. Goat's Peak Tower is open year-round.

Mount Tom State Reservation covers more than 2,000 acres of land. The park is located in the Connecticut River Valley, just north of Springfield. The park offers 20 miles of hiking trails for all levels of experience, as well as fishing, canoeing, and cross-country skiing on Lake Bray. The park has views of the Pioneer Valley, the Berkshire Mountains, and the Pelham Hills. 

The area is also a great place to bird watch, especially for hawks in the fall.
