Sarnia--Canatara Park (West Parking and Beach)

Tips for Birding

Park in the gravel covered lot at the west end of Canatara Park. Try to find a location between the parking lot and the Lake Huron shore where you can see birds moving in every direction but mainly parallel to the shoreline. Start early and be prepared to stay for a few hours.

Birds of Interest

All migrants but mainly warblers, vireos, sparrows, ducks, geese, gulls and raptors.

About this Location

Experienced birders challenge themselves to identify passing songbirds, raptors and waterfowl from the beach and the parking lot. Viewing time is very brief with little opportunity for photos. There is a washroom adjacent to the children's playground equipment less than 200 meters from the parking lot.
