Strongsville Backyard Preserve

Royalton Road Strongsville, Ohio 44136

About this Location

The Strongsville Backyard Preserve is located behind the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center. It is a 38-acre garden and Registered Wildlife Habitat originally developed with a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. It is best to park on the left side of the recreation center right by the gated Safety Town area. The large entrance sign and paved path pick up right there. Parking in the main parking lot of the recreation center would result in a long walk to the Backyard Preserve. The many paths through the wooded area are dirt only and the terrain is hilly in some areas making it a bit of a climb at some points. There are also many bridges to cross over the large ravine and creek. The paved trail through the wildflower gardens gives good looks at the treeline and, in places, into the woods for people who don’t want to or cannot, access the trails through the woods.
