This hotspot in Prospect, Kentucky 40059, is accessed at the north end of Hays-Kennedy Park.
Enter the park through an open gate at the north end of Hays-Kennedy Park. There is a mown path around several agricultural fields that can be accessed by turning left inside the gate. If you go right, you can follow the path to these ag fields as well.
Sparrows in the ag fields, swallows over the river in spring and summer. At the north edge along the river, there was a Western Grebe a few years back.
This park is an easy walk, though on the northern edge there can be low spots of standing water after rains. Watch where you walk, because the park, despite small signs to the contrary, is sometimes mistakenly considered a dog park, so scat may be on the paths or unleashed (but not unaccompanied) dogs on the property. Note that both this location and neighboring Hays Kennedy Park are very popular with dog walkers, especially during the warmer months. Dogs are often off-leash and birders have reported unpleasant encounters.
There is one main path around the periphery of this park that's an easy walk, less than a mile. There are some mown shortcuts too.
