Smith College is a private women's liberal arts college founded in 1871 by Sophia Smith as one of the Seven Sisters colleges. Smith's campus is a natural oasis, with a lake, a waterfall, wooded trails, and an arboretum that showcases over 1,200 species of plants. On campus are Smith's Museum of Art and Botanic Garden, the latter designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.
