Tips for Birding

Heritage Preserve is a housing development. However, the developer is maintaining large natural areas including several restored wetland ponds, one of which has an observation tower. There also several paved multi-purpose trails throughout this subdivision. This location should become a prime spot for migrating ducks and other wetland birds.

Birders may access the area from two locations. There is a driveway that comes off the west side of Alton Darby Road south of Davis Road. This is an old driveway that ends near two white barns where there is limited parking. Parking is also available on Goldenrod Street near the bike path that goes to the white barns. The bike path is about .33 mile south and west of the white barns. There is no designated parking lot, so you have to park on the street.

About this Location

Heritage Preserve is a nature-focused community with a unique park-like setting which features walking trails and bike paths that connect to Heritage Trail, an Observation Tower that overlooks the community, covered pavilion, and conservation areas and wetlands.
