Lajitas (FWTX 37)

Tips for Birding

On the east side of the resort is a small clear water pond that can attract Black Phoebe and other passerines and an occasional duck or water bird. There is a pond behind the villas to the immediate west of the resort. The pond is usually level at about 20-30 feet below. A good place to find Redhead. There are three or four nice ponds to bird on the golf course plus areas between the golf course and river. Skirt the greens whenever possible.

About this Location

Birders have always been accepted on the golf course, but please avoid golfers and their line of fire. Golfers get annoyed if you're where they plan on driving and may complain to management, which might get birders banned from the course. The "town" of Lajitas is actually owned by the resort.
