Besides the immediate park area, you can continue walking south from the parking lot, away from CR 444, through a grassy meadow looking for birds.
There have been several reports of Green Kingfisher, including a pair that may be nesting along the river.
This is an overnight camping spot for people boating along the Colorado River Trail. There is a portable toilet on site. There is a short concrete walk from the gravel parking area going downgrade to the camping/picnic area. Park is at the end of a 5.5 mile straight gravel road that runs east from FM1162. Primary traffic on this road are oil field service vehicles. Drive slowly and bird this road for many good birds can be seen along it.
