The trees at the edge of the playa along Sibley's nature trail are a migrant trap both spring and fall.

Year-round residents include Greater Roadrunner, Pyrrhuloxia, Cactus Wren, Curve-billed Thrasher, and Cassin's Sparrow.

The Sibley Nature Center is an excellent resource for learning about the region’s flora, fauna, and history. Admission is free, and the center is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Its public trail system is equipped with people counters to collect data about trail use, which helps the center understand community needs and manage the trails effectively.
