Second Lake is part of the Saugus River watershed and is fed by Hawkes Brook. The lake has a history of being used as a water supply for the town of Saugus, as well as a site for ice harvesting in the winter. 

Second Lake, located near Golden Hills Road, can be viewed from local streets which circle the lake.
